FROM THE FOUNDER

Why we exist.

I served in the Royal Australian Air Force from 2006 until my medical discharge in 2021. Within that time, I was responsible for members and, by extension, their families across 8 units, including time at the Defence Abuse Response Taskforce and in Security Forces, where I sat with members and families as they navigated the hardest days of their lives.

The lesson I carried out of those years is simple: leadership is taught, modelled, and practised - long before anyone calls you a leader.

Australia does not have a leadership shortage. It has an opportunity shortage. Too few young Australians get to practise judgment, service, and accountability before adulthood demands it of them.

The Odyssey Leadership Foundation exists to close that gap. We work with schools, councils, universities, and organisations such as The Y NSW Youth Parliament, to give young Australians the tools, the space, and the responsibility to lead - early, ethically, and with integrity.

– Bain Dohne, CEO & Founder

WHAT WE DO

Four Programs.

One mission.

Practical leadership formation, built around experience rather than just theory.

1

Civics & Public Speaking

Practical training in how government works and how to speak inside it - delivered with The Y NSW Parliament Program for Years 10-12.

2

Critical Thinking, Debate & Discourse

Education in structured argument, evidence handling and reasoning - building young Australians who can hold a position, listen across differences, and change their mind on the merits.

3

Public Advocacy

The Foundation's public voice - keynotes, panels, briefings and school visits delivered by the CEO on civic leadership, ethical service, and youth opportunity.

4

Community Grants

Fast, transparent micro-grants disbursed via Australian Communities Foundation to youth-led community projects working with disadvantaged Australians across NSW.

STORIES & ANALYSIS
